Star Trek Into Darkness – Review

For better or for worse, and in spite of all the secrecy surrounding the film, Star Trek Into Darkness is probably exactly what you think it is. For folks who enjoyed 2009′s Star Trek, I would say there’s no reason not to see Into Darkness: you’ll love it! And for people not on board with J.J. Abrams’ approach to Star Trek, all your assumptions about Into Darkness are correct, so you can go ahead and skip the headache of checking it out.

A Look Back at Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan

After watching Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Star Trek II feels like a palate cleanser. The Wrath of Khan has little in common with the previous film, but it is a direct sequel to the original series episode “Space Seed,” which introduced the character Kahn. People unfamiliar with the original series won’t feel too lost, though, since all the exposition needed to enjoy the film is delivered efficiently and entertainingly.

The first time I saw Star Trek: The Motion picture is vivid in my memory. It was my tenth birthday, and I was sick in bed with the flu. I was feverishly immersed in the film, and even on my tiny television in VHS quality, its grandeur was undeniable.


Report on: Toronto Comic-Con 2013

With Wizard not having a show in Toronto this year, the spring comic book scene was open for Hobbystar to bring back the Toronto Comic-Con in full force March 9-10, 2013, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The con absorbed the March anime convention and welcomed fans of any kind of fiction. People call it Fan Expo Jr., because that’s really what it is.
