Bagged and Bored:  01 – What Now?

Bagged & Bored: Episode One

08/01/2011 - The DC Comics “New 52″ initiative has undoubtably caused some friction among the fanbase. While there are plenty of legitimate reasons to be upset about certain things happening with DC in September, the most ridiculous complaints I’ve come across are the ones related to whether or not X, Y or Z character is still “sexy”. If your major concern with wardrobe changes being made is how turned on they make you, you probably need to re-think your priorities in life.

There is a bit of an oxymoron in J.C.’s complaint.  I mean.  If we get to re-think our priorities in life, comics definitely shouldn’t make it.  I mean, comics shouldn’t be important in life.  Really.  So, if they are important, then we can whine about stuff like Jim Lee’s retro-designs.  It’s a whole package thing.  Whether we care or we don’t.

If we are re-thinking our costumes shouldn’t we have our heroes wear something like armor rather then spandex? I know Supergirl is strong, but in the hero business one tends to get beat on no matter strength & gender…
