News Bulletin !
Your favorite cartoon and mine Adventure Time is going to be releasing the first issue of Adventure Time Comics this February! Cartoon Network has teamed up with Boom! Studios to bring us an all ages adventure with Ryan North writing and Shelli Paroline and Braden Lamb doing the art. The first issue will have 32 pages and around 4$
Not too long ago Ryan North released his third collection of Dinosaur Comics: Everybody Knows Failure is just Success Rounded Down, after I emailed him a couple questions about working on Adventure Time, here is that correspondance:
Alice Quinn: What are you looking forward to bringing into the Adventure Time universe?
Ryan North: Man, I think a lot of what I love is already there! A lot of the fun is translating it into comics so that it works just as well, but I’d also like to do some things in comics that you can’t do in animation. Normally I’d say “oh because on TV you’ve got a budget but in comics the only limit is your IMAGINATION” but that doesn’t really apply to a cartoon like Adventure Time, which is already as limit-free as is possible. My goal is to make the comic like an awesome episode of the show.
AQ: Which of our favourite Adventure Time characters can we look forward to seeing in the comics?
RN: I don’t want to give too much away! But Finn and Jake and PB and LSP and Ice King and BMO are all there, along with some new ones.
AQ: Will the storyline of the comics fit in and make references to the show and vice versa or will they be separate continuities?
RN: Pen and I talked about this and we agreed it’d be good for them to be able to go in their own directions, but we also want them to fit together nicely. We’re not contradicting anything if possible, and we want you to be able to move from one to the other as easily as possible. So – the same continuity, as much as possible!
The advantage of doing it this way is that since the comic comes out in February, in order to make sure there’s no contradictions, I now know some plot points that won’t show up on the show till around then. But I’LL NEVER TELL.
AQ: Feel free to add anything else you would like to share about this topic.
